Nagel Canvas Paintings

Karl Bornstein, owner and publisher of Mirage Editions, insisted Patrick Nagel created 120 canvases*. Sadly, sales records were lost and some paintings never photographed. Paintings sold out quickly and collectors often paid cash! (Consider a time of only carbon copy receipts with no digital files or scanners!) Other sources had the canvas count firm at 80. With my help and a collaboration of combining resources a catalogue number well over 90 now exists. We will find them. This painting I documented in 2020 recently resurfaced and sold at Heritage Auctions!

JUST RESURFACED AFTER 38 YEARS ! “Harlequin” 1983

Artwork continues to resurface at auctions and long time private collectors and friends of Pat are helping me document. I am forever grateful for ALL the collaboration. This page will be a work in progress. Check back from time to time as I will continue to add and post.

Palm Springs Life. The above image is close to what the original canvas looks like (This image had some digital scrubbing and is slightly cropped on both the right and left sides). This is not an exact image of canvas so consider placeholder. The original canvas has not resurfaced. Confirmed by Barry Haun
Park Place, Acrylic on Canvas.
Barry Haun confirms it was created. It has not resurfaced. The above image is a only placeholder using the Estate Edition serigraph released in 1988.
Collectors Gallery. Acrylic on canvas as published by Mirage in art binder for galleries at the time to sell the serigraph. The measurements are however referring to the graphic. This paper image has probably faded with age, so it appears no longer pale yellow.

Other Canvases I have personally confirmed, this is a placeholder only for now. Canvas image coming soon.

If you are the owner of this original CANVAS PLEASE contact me! The above image is the acrylic on board.

Just Looking Gallery, San Luis Obispo confirmed numbers easily over 100. They held the Nagel retrospective in 2007 in collaboration with the Nagel Estate.
